Biography

JED LIPSKY of Stowe grew up in rural Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts. He was a competitive Alpine skier who spent the winters of his youth in Stowe, Vermont with the Mount Mansfield Ski Club. After attending the University of Colorado, he moved to Winhall, Vermont where he served as its first planning board chair as well as its first zoning administrative officer. He also worked as the Assistant Director of the Conservation Society of Southern Vermont and began his career as a logger. While living in Monterey, Massachusetts, he started raising his family and serving his community on the selectboard, and he was a planning board and school board member. He returned to Vermont in 1978and began logging in Duxbury Vermont. He moved to Stowe in 2000 and served on numerous boards and committees, including the Stowe School Board and the Stowe Land Trust Board. He was awarded Master Logger Certification by the Trust to Conserve Northeast Forests in 2021 and continues working as a logger. This session is his first in the Vermont State House where he is a member of the Agriculture, Food Resiliency, and Forestry Committee.
