Biography

JD Bernardy is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Rockingham 36. He assumed office on December 7, 2022, and his current term ends on December 4, 2024. Bernardy is affiliated with the Republican Party.

Born and raised in South Hampton, New Hampshire, Bernardy has been a resident of the state since 1975 and of South Hampton since 2000. He is a proud father of four children, three daughters and a son.

Bernardy served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Navy Reserve. During his time in the Navy, he served onboard the USS Jack (SSN 605) and did reserve duty at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, SubGroup2 & the Naval War College.

He holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota at Twin Cities and a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire. His career spans over 38 years in leadership roles in seven different pharmaceutical/biotech companies, specializing in Regulatory Affairs and Quality.

In addition to his professional achievements, Bernardy has also been involved in local government. He has served as the chairman of the South Hampton Zoning Board. He is an avid gardener.

In the 2023-2024 term, Bernardy was assigned to the Science, Technology and Energy Committee, where he served as the Clerk. His responsibilities included considering all matters pertaining to energy, telecommunications, air pollution, the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission, the application of technological advances to the legislative process and the operation of state government, among others.

Bernardy ran for re-election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives to represent Rockingham 36 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
