James Wangsness (also known as JD) is an American politician and farmer. He currently serves as a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from the 23rd district. Wangsness assumed office on January 10, 2023, and his current term ends on January 14, 2025.

Biography: James Wangsness earned a degree in farm management and economics from South Dakota State University. His career experience includes co-owning and co-operating the Diamond W Land and Cattle Company, where he has been actively involved in agriculture. As a farmer/rancher, Wangsness brings practical knowledge and a strong voice to legislative matters.
