James Francis Byrnes (born May 2, 1882) was a Democratic senator from the state of South Carolina who served in the United States Congress during the early twentieth century. His tenure in the Senate began on April 4, 1911, and continued until December 31, 1941, marking a lengthy period of service in national office.
