Biography

Harold Terry Johnson (born December 2, 1907) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from California. He represented California’s 1st Congressional District and served as a federal legislator for more than two decades during the mid-20th century. Johnson’s congressional career began on January 7, 1959, when he first took office as a representative.

Johnson served eleven consecutive terms in the House, remaining in office until January 3, 1981. Throughout this period, he was consistently affiliated with the Democratic Party and represented California’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress.
