Biography

George Morgan Thomas (born November 23, 1828) was a Republican politician who represented Kentucky in the United States House of Representatives during the Forty-ninth Congress. Serving as the representative for Kentucky’s 9th congressional district, he held office from December 5, 1887, to March 3, 1889. His tenure in Congress marked his role in national legislative affairs during the late nineteenth century.

Thomas served a single term in the House of Representatives. As a member of the Republican Party from Kentucky, his service placed him among the historical members of Congress who helped shape federal policy in the post–Civil War era. After his term ended in 1889, he left congressional office and is recorded as a former representative of the state.
