George Margetas serves as a Republican Representative for District 196 in the Pennsylvania state legislature.
George Margetas won a special election on May 19, 2026, to fill the 196th District seat left vacant by the resignation of Representative Seth Grove, and he was sworn in on June 9, 2026. The district is in part of York County, where Margetas has lived his whole life. He is a lawyer and a graduate of West York Area High School, Dickinson College, and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Before joining the House, he served 12 years on the West York Area School Board, from 2011 to 2023, and was a West Manchester Township supervisor from 2023 to 2026.
