Biography

Ensol Rodríguez is a New Progressive Party (Partido Nuevo Progresista) member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, representing District 23. Rodríguez was first elected in November 2024, narrowly defeating the Popular Democratic Party incumbent, José “Cheito” Rivera Madera, and took office on January 2, 2025, for the 2025-2028 term. The southern district includes communities in Ponce, Yauco, Peñuelas, Guayanilla and Adjuntas.1

Rodríguez, whose full name is Ensol A. Rodríguez Torres, lives in Guayanilla, one of the municipalities in the district.

In the House, Rodríguez chairs the Committee on Youth Affairs. Much of Rodríguez’s legislative activity in the first term has centered on the district, including a resolution directing a House investigation into school buildings in District 23 that were affected by earthquakes, an issue of long-standing concern in the southern municipalities hit by the 2019-2020 seismic sequence.
