Emily Kinkead is an American politician and a member of the Democratic party. She has been serving as a representative in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 2020. She represents District 20, which includes several communities in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

Biography

Emily Kinkead is an American politician and a member of the Democratic party. She has been serving as a representative in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 2020. She represents District 20, which includes several communities in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

Born on June 4, 1987, Emily Kinkead pursued her education at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2009. She furthered her education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor degree in 2016.

Before her political career, Kinkead worked in various roles. She was a private-practice lawyer from the Brighton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh. She has also worked in Washington D.C. for Common Cause on government ethics reform, for the National Institutes of Health, and as a Judicial Law Clerk for Allegheny County Commonwealth Court Judge, Michael Wojcik.

In 2019, Kinkead and Emily Marburger, mayor of Bellevue, Pennsylvania, entered the Democratic primary against Adam Ravenstahl, the incumbent in their district. In November 2019, Marburger dropped out of the race. Kinkead defeated Ravenstahl in the primary on June 2, 2020. She was unopposed in the general election on November 3, 2020, and took office on December 1, 2020.

As a representative, Kinkead is a member of several committees including Agriculture & Rural Affairs, Appropriations, Committee On Committees, Human Services, and Judiciary.

Emily Kinkead is passionate about empowering Pennsylvanians and breaking down barriers for working families. She is an avid volunteer who currently serves on numerous boards, including Scenic Pittsburgh, ALCOSAN, and the State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision.
