Eddie D. Settle is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the North Carolina Senate since January 1, 2023. He is a Republican from Elkin and represents the 36th district.
Settle was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He graduated from East Wilkes High School in 1978 and earned an associate degree in business from Wilkes Community College in 1979. His career experience includes working as a business owner with Nu-Line Printing, Inc. and the Settle Cattle Company.
Settle was elected to the Wilkes County board of county commissioners in 2012, where he served as chairman and vice chairman. He was also appointed to the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. Settle was a member of the Wilkes County Economic Development Corporation’s board of directors and the Wilkes County Airport board.
He was elected on November 8, 2022, in the 2022 North Carolina Senate election unopposed. He assumed office on January 1, 2023. He previously served 3 terms on the Wilkes County Commission.
Settle is a Baptist. He is married to Sheila and they have two children, Melissa and Matt. They reside in Elkin, North Carolina.
In terms of committee assignments for the 2023-2024 session, Settle was assigned to the following committees: Agriculture, Energy, and Environment Committee, Senate Appropriations on Health and Human Services Committee, Pensions and Retirement and Aging Committee, Senate State and Local Government Committee, and Senate Transportation Committee.
