Biography

Dustin Miller is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 40 in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He assumed office on January 11, 2016, and his current term ends on January 10, 2028.

Born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana, Dustin graduated from Opelousas Catholic High School. He furthered his education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He also holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Southern University.

Before his political career, Dustin worked as a nurse. His experience in the healthcare sector has been instrumental in his role as a representative. He has been assigned to several committees throughout his tenure, including the Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development Committee, the Appropriations Committee, the Health and Welfare Committee, the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, the Joint Capital Outlay Committee, and the Medicaid Oversight Committee.

Dustin was re-elected in the primary on October 14, 2023, after the general election was canceled. He won the election outright, receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. In the election for Louisiana House of Representatives District 40, Dustin won with 81.3% of the votes, a clear indication of the trust and confidence his constituents have in him.
