Biography

Representative Donna Barnes, a Democrat, represents Raytown, parts of Kansas City and Jackson County (District 28) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to her first two-year term in November 2024.

Barnes graduated from Southeast High School located in Kansas City and briefly attended UMKC and Penn Valley Community College. Prior to being elected, Barnes worked as a lead sales service associate for the United States Postal Service for 35 years in the Kansas City area.

Outside of legislative duties, Barnes enjoys serving her community and the children at her church. She is a Jackson County Election Judge and a Jackson County Brooking Committeewoman. Her interests also include being a sports enthusiast, reading, getting outside to walk, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Barnes is married to former House Representative Jerome Barnes. Together, they have three children, a granddaughter, and a lovely daughter-in-law.
