Biography

R. Dewith Carrier is an American politician who is currently serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 32nd district. He represents parts of Allen Parish, Beauregard Parish, Calcasieu Parish, and Jefferson Davis Parish.

Carrier first assumed office on January 13, 2020, and again on January 8, 2023. He was first elected to the 32nd district after receiving 64.3% of the vote on October 12, 2019, leaving Herman Ray Hill with 26.8% and Kristian Poncho with 8.9%. In 2023, he was re-elected after running unopposed.

Before his political career, Carrier was self-employed. He completed his education at McNeese State University. As a state representative, Carrier has been assigned to several committees including Appropriations, Natural Resources and Environment, Retirement, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.

He is also a part of various caucuses and delegations such as the Acadiana Delegation, Central Louisiana Delegation Caucus, Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, and the Louisiana Rural Caucus.
