Biography

Derell Wilson is an American politician serving as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for the 46th district. He was elected in November 2022 and assumed office on January 4, 2023.

Born and raised in Norwich, Connecticut, Wilson is one of nine siblings and had a twin brother, Terell Wilson, who sadly passed away in 2016. He graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in 2010 and went on to study biochemistry at American International College.

Before his political career, Wilson served as a paraprofessional educator at the Integrated Day Charter School. From 2019 to 2022, he served as a member of the Norwich City Council. When he assumed office as a representative, he became the first Black person to represent Norwich in the House.

In addition to his political career, Wilson has served as an alderman with the City of Norwich, the president of the Norwich NAACP Robertsine Duncan Youth Council, and the president of the state NAACP Youth and College Division.

His current term in the Connecticut House of Representatives is set to end on January 8, 2025.
