David Wheeler (born November 24, 1979) is an American attorney and politician. He currently serves as a member of the South Dakota Senate, representing the 22nd district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 12, 2021.
Early Life and Education: Wheeler was born in Huron, South Dakota. He pursued higher education at the University of South Dakota, where he earned the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts in political science
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of South Dakota School of Law
Career: Wheeler has a legal background and worked as an attorney at Blue, Wheeler & Banks LLP in Huron. Additionally, he served on the Huron School Board for seven years. Governor Dennis Daugaard appointed him to the South Dakota Lottery Commission.
In November 2020, Wheeler secured victory in the state senate election, and he officially began his term on January 12, 2021. As a Republican, he actively contributes to legislative matters in South Dakota.
