Biography

Early Life and Education David P. Givens was born on December 26, 1966, in Greensburg, Kentucky, U.S. He completed his high school education in 1985 from Green County High School, where he was the valedictorian. He then pursued higher education at Western Kentucky University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1989 and a Master of Arts in Communication in 1997.

Political Career David P. Givens is a member of the Republican Party. He began his political career as a member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing the 9th district. He assumed office in 2009.

In addition to his role as a state senator, Givens has held the position of President pro tempore of the Kentucky Senate multiple times. He first served in this role from January 6, 2015, to July 1, 2017. He then resumed the position on January 8, 2019, and has continued to serve in this capacity for the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Legislative Sessions.

Committee Assignments Over the years, Senator Givens has been assigned to various committees. These include the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee, Senate Committee on Committees, Senate Education Committee, Senate Health and Welfare Committee, and Senate Rules Committee.

Personal Life Outside of his political career, David P. Givens is a Managing Partner at Central Farmers Supply. He is also a Board Member, Primary Stockholder, and Beef Producer at the Green River Cattle Company. He is a Christian and follows the Presbyterian faith. He is a father to three children.
