Daryl Campbell, born on May 29, 1986, in New Rochelle, New York, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He currently serves as a representative for the 99th district of the Florida House of Representatives.
Campbell’s journey into politics began with his education. He attended Jacksonville University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in social work in 2010. He furthered his education at Barry University, earning his master’s degree in 2017.
Before his political career, Campbell worked as a mental health therapist. His career experience also includes roles as a legislative assistant with the Florida House of Representatives and a research assistant with Howard University.
In 2022, Campbell ran for the 94th district of the Florida House of Representatives. He faced opponents Josephus Eggelletion III, Elijah Manley, and Rod Kemp. Despite the competitive race, Campbell emerged victorious, succeeding Bobby DuBose. He assumed office on January 31, 2022.
During the 2022 election, Campbell faced substantial allegations of homophobia against his gay opponent Elijah Manley. However, Campbell denied these allegations in an op-ed and won the election decisively.
As of now, Campbell resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is known for his interests in health and fitness, mindfulness, outdoor activities, and travel. His dedication to his work and his constituents is evident in his service. As a representative, Campbell continues to work towards the betterment of his district and the state of Florida.
