Biography

Danielle Bass serves as a Democratic Senator for District 18 in the Hawaii state legislature.

Governor Josh Green appointed Bass to the Hawaii Senate on August 9, 2026, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Senator Michelle Kidani; the appointment runs until a successor elected in the November 3, 2026, general election takes office. Senate District 18 includes Mililani Town, Waipiʻo Gentry, Crestview, Waikele, part of Waipahu, Village Park and Royal Kunia. A fourth-generation Mililani resident and urban planner, Bass has served as Hawaiʻi’s State Sustainability Coordinator since 2017, after 13 years with the Hawaii House of Representatives, including work as legislative manager for Representative Ryan Yamane. She has been a member of the Mililani/Waipiʻo Neighborhood Board since 2007 and its chair since 2021. A graduate of Mililani High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
