Biography

Daniel Sayre is a member of the Democratic Party serving his first term in the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 135. His career spans over 35 years in book publishing, focusing on scientific and technical disciplines for professionals and college students. He has also been involved in the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), where he served two terms as a Director and chaired the ASEE’s Corporate Member Council. In recent years, Sayre’s consulting firm, New World Associates, has led the Workforce Summit for Industry 4.0 in collaboration with the ASEE.

Sayre has been active in his local community, serving on the Town of Kennebunk Budget Board and acting as the Board’s liaison to RSU21. He is passionate about growing and diversifying Maine’s economy and fostering greater collaboration between education, business, and policymaking communities. Sayre advocates for building inclusive communities where every individual can thrive.

He resides in Kennebunk with his wife, Claudia, a former attorney and teacher who serves on the RSU 21 Board of Directors. They have two daughters, Emma, a conference planner, and Zoe, a speech language pathologist. Sayre is currently a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement, and Business, which handles matters related to business regulation, economic development, technology commercialization, tourism, and more. His commitment to public service and community involvement is evident through his various roles and contributions to the state of Maine.
