Biography

Danny Costain is a Republican politician who serves as a member of the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 33. He was first elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2022. He is the ranking member of the Leaves of Absence Committee and a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee.

Costain was born in Plymouth, Maine, where he still lives. He graduated from Old Town High School and served in the U.S. Air Force and the Maine Air National Guard. He also earned a degree from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and worked as a police officer. He owns a business and has been involved in various community and civic organizations, such as the Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union, the Anah Shrine, the New England Belted Galloway Group, the Free and Accepted Masons, and the Penobscot 4-H Livestock Group.

Costain is passionate about supporting veterans, farmers, small businesses, and rural communities. He has sponsored legislation on criminal justice, public safety, agriculture, and taxation. He is married and has two children and four grandchildren
