Claire Cory is a Republican member of the North Dakota State Senate, representing District 42. She assumed office on December 1, 2024, and her current term will end on December 1, 2028.​

Born on September 11, 1998, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Claire has deep roots in her community. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and pursued higher education at the University of North Dakota (UND), where she earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Public Administration and Political Science. During her time at UND, she was recognized as a Council of State Governments’ Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (CSG BILLD) Fellow, highlighting her commitment to public service and leadership development.​

Claire’s professional experience is diverse and community-focused. She has worked as an Event Coordinator, showcasing her organizational skills and ability to bring people together. Her dedication to public service was evident early in her career; in 2018, she served as an intern for the North Dakota Republican Party and the United States Senate, gaining valuable insights into the legislative process. Additionally, she worked as an election official for Grand Forks County in 2018, ensuring the integrity and smooth operation of local elections. Her commitment to her community is further demonstrated by her role as a mentor for the S.M.I.L.E program with the Grand Forks Park District in 2016, where she guided and supported young individuals in their personal development.​

Claire’s political career began in the North Dakota House of Representatives, where she represented District 42 from 2019 to 2024. During her tenure in the House, she served on several committees, including the Judiciary Committee and the Government and Veterans Affairs Committee, contributing to the development and oversight of legislation in these critical areas. In February 2024, Claire announced her candidacy for the North Dakota State Senate seat for District 42, following the retirement of Senator Curt Kreun. She secured the Republican nomination in June 2024 and won the general election in November 2024. As a state senator, Claire serves as the Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee and is a member of the Judiciary Committee, where she continues to advocate for policies that benefit her constituents and the state of North Dakota.​

Claire’s dedication to public service, combined with her educational background and professional experience, positions her as a committed and effective representative for the people of District 42. Her ongoing involvement in community initiatives and legislative work reflects her unwavering commitment to the betterment of her community and state.
