Christian Phelps is a member of the Democratic Party serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly. He represents the 93rd Assembly District, having assumed office on January 6, 2025. His current term is set to conclude on January 4, 2027.

Born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Christian Phelps has dedicated his career to education, journalism, and public service. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 2012, where he was an accomplished athlete, earning First Team All-State honors in tennis. His early interest in politics was evident as he participated in demonstrations against controversial legislation during his high school years.

Phelps pursued higher education at Vassar College, earning a bachelor’s degree in urban studies in 2016. During his time at Vassar, he continued to excel in tennis, receiving numerous accolades. After completing his undergraduate studies, he returned to Wisconsin and worked as a special education paraprofessional in Madison public schools. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as he became an active member of the Madison Teachers Incorporated union.

Seeking to broaden his expertise, Phelps earned a master’s degree in international journalism from Cardiff University in 2020. Upon returning to Eau Claire, he took on the role of digital organizing and communications director for the Wisconsin Public Education Network, a nonprofit organization advocating for public school policies. Alongside this role, he contributed as a freelance journalist to various platforms, showcasing his dedication to community engagement and storytelling.

In 2024, Christian Phelps announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin State Assembly. The 93rd Assembly District had undergone significant redistricting, creating a competitive political landscape. Phelps ran on a platform emphasizing public education, healthcare, environmental protection, and workers’ rights. His campaign resonated with voters, leading to his election in November 2024.

As a legislator, Phelps continues to champion progressive policies and advocate for the needs of his constituents. His journey from a passionate high school activist to a dedicated public servant reflects his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in his community.
