Biography

About Representative Christian D. Menefee

Christian Menefee was raised in Texas’s 18th Congressional District by two military parents who taught him the values of service, hard work, and standing up for what’s right. He attended Houston’s public schools and with the help of a Pell Grant, became the first in his family to graduate college—earning a degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio before going on to law school at Washington University in St. Louis.

After law school, Christian moved back home to Houston, where he built a career as a commercial litigator. But his passion was always serving others. He spent his free time volunteering at the hospital where his older brother had beaten cancer a decade earlier, leading a civic organization that fought for working families, and taking on pro bono legal work. He worked with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, advised immigrants and their families during Trump’s Muslim Ban, and stood up for people wronged by government overreach.

In 2020, Christian unseated a three-term incumbent to become the youngest and first Black Harris County Attorney. From day one, he went to work fighting for the people. When Texas Republicans tried to restrict voting rights and throw out election results, he fought them in court and won. When corporations polluted Black and Brown neighborhoods, he forced them to clean up their mess. And when businesses price-gouged families during hurricanes and disasters, he held them accountable.

Christian has been engaged in the national legal fight against Trump—challenging his administration’s efforts to cut funding for life-saving medical research and deny birthright citizenship to immigrant families. While others talked about pushing back, Christian built a record of real results.

Now, Christian is running for Congress because working people deserve a government that has their back. Trump and his allies are making life harder for everyday Americans—rolling back voting rights, attacking reproductive freedom, and rigging the economy for billionaires. Christian has spent his career fighting back against bullies, and he’s ready to do it in Washington.

Christian lives in Houston with his wife, Kaitlyn, their sons, Gabriel and Malcolm, and their rescue dogs, Howie and Kennedy.
