Christopher T. Trakel, known as Chris Trakel, is an American politician serving as a member of the Idaho Senate for the 11th district. He assumed office on December 1, 2022.
Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Trakel graduated from Meridian High School in 2000. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in March 2001 as a rifleman. His military career was marked by deployments to Iraq with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines and Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2016, holding the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his military service, Trakel returned to Idaho and settled in Caldwell. He founded a woodworking business, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit. His political career began when he was elected to the Idaho Senate in November 2022.
Trakel is a member of the Republican Party. He has three children and is married to his high school sweetheart, Nicole. His commitment to his family, his state, and his country is evident in his service both in the military and in the political arena.
