Carla Cunningham, born January 12, 1962, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. She serves in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 106, and assumed office in 2013.

Biography

Carla Cunningham, a native North Carolinian, was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina, in 1962. She graduated from Anson Senior High School in 1980. In 1981, she completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Central Piedmont Community College, earning her diploma. Later, in 1996, she graduated from Gaston College with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing.

Carla’s dedication to healthcare continued as she worked as a Hospice Nurse before being elected to the North Carolina General Assembly in 2012. Her commitment to public service and healthcare advocacy has been unwavering.

In 2009, Carla earned her bachelor’s degree from Winston Salem State University. Her educational background, combined with her experience as a registered nurse, has equipped her to address critical healthcare issues in the state legislature.

Representative Cunningham has served in the North Carolina House of Representatives since 2013. During her tenure, she has been actively involved in various committees, including the Appropriations Committee, House Appropriations on Health and Human Services, Commerce Committee, Energy and Public Utilities Committee, Health Committee (where she served as Vice Chair), Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House Committee, and the Wildlife Resources Committee.
