Biography

Brian Meyer is an American lawyer and politician from the state of Iowa. Born in 1973 in Dubuque, Iowa, he is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 29th district.

Education and Early Career: Meyer graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and later served in the Iowa National Guard. He earned a law degree from Drake University in 2002. His career experience includes working as an attorney, an assistant Iowa attorney general, and an assistant Polk County attorney.

Political Career: Meyer began his political career serving on the Des Moines City Council and the City of Des Moines Planning and Zoning Commission. He ran in a special election for the 33rd district in the Iowa House of Representatives and defeated the Republican Party candidate, Michael Young, in the election. He succeeded Kevin McCarthy, who resigned the seat in the Iowa House to work for the Attorney General of Iowa. He was sworn in on November 1, 2013.

In 2023, Meyer assumed office as a representative of the 29th district in the Iowa House of Representatives. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Personal Life: In 1998, Meyer married Ann Rossmiller. They have two children and reside in Des Moines, Iowa.
