Bob Morgan is a dedicated public servant and a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 58th district. The district, located along Chicago’s North Shore suburbs, includes all or parts of Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glencoe, Highwood, Highland Park, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Northbrook, and North Chicago.
Before his political career, Bob Morgan served as the lead healthcare attorney for the State of Illinois. In this role, he was instrumental in securing health care for over 650,000 Illinois residents and ensured they were covered under ACA’s Medicaid expansion. He was lauded for his efforts to implement the Affordable Care Act and the Illinois Medical Cannabis Program. The state’s medical cannabis program has already helped over 45,000 residents struggling with debilitating medical conditions like cancer and PTSD, and Bob continues to advocate for patients still waiting for access to the program.
Bob Morgan is an active member of his local community and a tireless advocate for those without a voice. He is an active Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League and serves on the Board of Trustees of Equip for Equality.
Bob Morgan holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law. He lives in Deerfield with his wife Sonya, and two children.
As of July 3, 2022, Representative Morgan is a member of the following Illinois House committees: Appropriations - Human Services Committee, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and IT Committee, Energy & Environment Committee, Health Care Licenses Committee, Human Services Committee, Insurance Committee (Co-chairman of), Insurance Review Subcommittee, and Medicaid Subcommittee.
In his electoral history, Bob Morgan has shown a strong performance. In the Illinois 58th State House District General Election of 2018, he received 63.81% of the votes. In the 2020 election, he was unopposed and received 100% of the votes. In the 2022 election, he received 70.22% of the votes.
