Bill Vest serves as a Republican Representative for District 50 in the West Virginia state legislature.
Bill Vest of Oak Hill was appointed to the West Virginia House of Delegates by Governor Patrick Morrisey on August 25, 2026, and sworn in the next day, filling the Fayette County seat left vacant by the resignation of Delegate Elliott Pritt. Vest spent more than three decades in the West Virginia corrections system, retiring in 2022 as acting administrator and superintendent of the Beckley Correctional Center, and earlier served as deputy warden and associate warden of security at Mount Olive Correctional Complex. Before that, he worked as a correctional officer and hospital security officer and served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Oak Hill High School, completed criminal justice coursework through Glenville State College, and is a member of the American Legion.
