Biography

Angelo Camacho is an independent member of the Northern Mariana Islands House of Representatives, representing District 5 (Saipan). Camacho was first elected in November 2022, running as an independent in the two-seat Precinct 5 and placing first in the field, and took office on January 9, 2023. Camacho was re-elected in November 2024, again as an independent, finishing second behind fellow incumbent Thomas John Manglona for the district’s two seats. Camacho, whose full name is Angelo Atalig Camacho, entered the House in an election in which independent candidates won a majority of the chamber’s 20 seats.1

During the 23rd Legislature, Camacho chaired the House Committee on Natural Resources, one of the standing committee chairmanships assigned by Speaker Edmund Villagomez at the start of the term. In the following legislature, Camacho prefiled a bill to raise the 1992 salary cap for executive directors of government agencies to a 2025 inflation-adjusted level, and joined Representative Vincent Aldan in sponsoring a local bill to create a Saipan Economic Incentive Zone in the Third Senatorial District, with investment activity there to be administered by the Commonwealth Economic Incentive Authority. Camacho has also co-sponsored measures on Public School System funding for fiscal year 2026 and on the Marianas Public Land Trust.
