Angelia Williams Graves, an American politician, currently serves as a Democratic member representing the 21st district in the Virginia Senate since 2024. Prior to this, she represented the 90th district in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2021 to 2024.

Biography: Angelia was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. Her upbringing was grounded in faith and service to others, with her father serving as a pastor and her mother as a school teacher and missionary. She attended Booker T. Washington High School and later pursued higher education.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Old Dominion University

Political Career:

  • In 2010, Angelia entered politics by running for Norfolk City Council’s Super Ward 7, winning the election with 40% of the vote. She was re-elected in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
  • From 2013 to 2016, she served as vice-mayor.
  • In 2021, following the resignation of Delegate Joseph C. Lindsey, Angelia ran for the 90th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. She secured the Democratic nomination and won the special election against Republican Sylvia Bryant.
