Biography

Angela Burks Hill was born on August 14, 1965, in Picayune, Mississippi. She is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving in the Mississippi State Senate from the 40th district since 2012.

Before her political career, Angela was a science educator. She graduated from Pearl River Community College and earned her B.S. in Science Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her professional experience includes teaching at Pearl River Central Elementary and Roseland Park Baptist Church Academy and working for Paul Bounds Inc., a small Picayune-based business.

In the political arena, Angela has held her office in the Mississippi State Senate since 2012. Her tenure has seen her serve on several committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, she served as the Vice Chair of the Accountability, Efficiency and Transparency Committee, and the Chair of the Senate County Affairs Committee. She was also a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senate Appropriations Committee, Senate Education Committee, Senate Energy Committee, Senate Insurance Committee, Senate Investigate State Offices Committee, and Judiciary, Division B Committee.

Angela is married to Richard Byron Hill and they have two children, Andrew Bryon Hill and Kelly Gray Hill. She is of the Baptist faith.
