Biography

Born in Tacoma, Washington, ALBERT DEAN ROSELLINI received B.A. and LL.B. degrees from the University of Washington. Before being elected governor, he served as Assistant Deputy Prosecuting Attorney of King County from 1933 to 1941; State Senator from 1938 to 1956; and State Assistant Attorney General from 1941 to 1943. During his two terms as governor, he advocated improvement of mental hospitals and prisons, established a Department of Commerce and Economic Development, and supported a new budgeting and accounting system for the state. Rosellini was defeated for reelection in 1964 and retired to the practice of law. He died on October 10, 2011 at the age of 101.
